Recommended Equipment

While we have equipment available for students to use during classes, here are our recommendations for those looking to invest in their own gear.

Camera Bodies

We recommend full-frame mirrorless cameras for their versatility and image quality. Entry-level APS-C cameras are also suitable for beginners.

Lenses

A 24-70mm f/2.8 is an excellent all-purpose lens. Prime lenses (35mm, 50mm, 85mm) offer superior image quality and low-light performance.

Lighting

A basic speedlight with bounce capability is essential. Consider adding a portable softbox or umbrella for softer light quality.

Accessories

A sturdy tripod, polarizing and ND filters, reflectors, and a comfortable camera bag will enhance your photographic capabilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

While we encourage students to bring their own equipment to become more familiar with it, we do provide professional cameras and lenses for those who don't yet have their own gear. This allows everyone to participate fully regardless of equipment ownership.

Our courses accommodate various skill levels. The Landscape Vision Workshop welcomes photographers of all experience levels, while the Portrait Photography Masterclass and Urban Documentation Intensive are designed for those with basic camera knowledge. If you're completely new to photography, we recommend starting with our Fundamentals Workshop (not listed here) before advancing to these specialized courses.

We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you miss a class, we provide comprehensive class notes and recordings of the theoretical portions. For practical sessions, we offer limited makeup opportunities or one-on-one catch-up sessions at a reduced rate. We encourage consistent attendance for the best learning experience.

Yes, all our courses include some level of post-processing instruction using industry-standard software. We believe that developing your photographic vision involves both capture and processing. Each course includes dedicated sessions on editing techniques specifically relevant to that genre.

For our intermediate and advanced courses, we recommend (but don't require) submitting a small portfolio of your work. This helps our instructors understand your current skill level and areas for growth, allowing them to tailor aspects of the instruction to benefit your development. The submission process is informal and designed to enhance your learning experience, not as a barrier to entry.
